There was one story that I heard of from a tour guide in Williamburg that he called 'Teardrops in the Snow..." And I don't know if it was they way he told it or the story itself, but it was really creepy! I'm sure you can find a version of it somewhere.
I would love to read more of your book, but I can't at the moment, but once I finish you'll probably hear from me again!

I have done all bloody mary tricks, the spinning thrice, the saying thrice the locing myself in the house alone with candles, nothing worked. WHICH is why bloody mary is an alcohol drink, and not a horror, but still, I love to hear the tales behind it...
XD

Vanstania, Mary Queen of Scots was Elizabeth's COUSIN. Mary TUDOR was her sister. you go them mixed up. you may hate me for being so picky but...ah weel

Mehh Saturday, 13 November 2010
The version I know is that if you just say Bloody Mary 3 times facing a mirror, she'll come and claw your eyes out or something like that.
Vanstania Saturday, 23 October 2010

LoUey - No. The COUNTESS who bathed in virgin blood in order to be eternally young and beautiful, was Elizabeth Bathory, Countess of Hungary.
R.S. Le'Nard Saturday, 9 October 2010
LoUey100, no, that was Elizabeth Bathory

&I love urban legends, I'm completely obsessed with them. This is amazing :D
yourskinandbones Saturday, 11 September 2010
wasn't bloody mary that queen that bathed in the blood of young girls, thinking that it would make her look younger ?
Summer Tuesday, 18 May 2010

I like the way you've put all this together.

u have some good ledgends here.

WolverineGirlXD Tuesday, 18 August 2009
Also another version of this story is that Mary is at a dance or something and finds that someone murdered her boyfriend so she kills her self.

Flower. Monday, 17 August 2009
This is a interesting way to write out the legend, keep it up,
Lany
Also, would you mind reading mine?

xEllieEccentricitYx Wednesday, 22 July 2009
This is good!
Another Bloody Mary ledgend is that she was a witch that killed children to stay young forever, so they burned her at the stake. Also, it is said that sometimes she jumps out of the mirror and kills you or scratches your face.

ThoughtsAboutU Saturday, 18 July 2009
Ooooh! That was really good! Post more!
Mopre urban ledgends!!

~Kristin~ Saturday, 18 July 2009
They was good. I liked the way you put it together.
But I think you should have picked a different urban ledgend because Bloody Mary is very well known, and there are too many differnt stories to it.
for example:
Bloody Mary was a senoir in high school, and one day she went into the bathroom. And while she was in there The lights went out and someone killed her. Now they say if you go into a bathroom turn off the lights and look in the miror she will appear and kill you.
Sorry for the long(ish) comment.
What im trying to say is, Pick some not well known Urban ledgends.
Keep writing!!!!

Oh god, I've heard that one before!! Ugh, god that's freaking scary

xEllieEccentricitYx Wednesday, 22 July 2009
Ooh, scary! That one I haven't heard. But I do know that stories of people being buried alive are true, people! It doesn't really happen in modern times though, because doctors are too intelligent to let it happen. But go back a century or so, and it was common to find scratches on the inside of coffin lids where the 'dead' occupant had tried to get out.

I personally love all your work . It takes time and effort to research all this stuff and formulate it in your own creative way to make it a detailed quick read. This is my all time FAVOURITE type of writing . I think that you could go far . Keep it going and ignore the negativity <3
also if you have time, take a quick look at my first short story I just posted it . Thanks again.

dammit I hate this one! And right after my dog died too.
R. A. Smigielski Friday, 28 August 2009
Oh my God I heard this one at a sleepover and for months I wouldn't let my hand or foot fall over the edge of my bed or a couch!! I heard it how she was babysitting and was on the couch, watching a horror movie while the baby slept. Everytime she got scared, she would put her hand down and the dog would lick it, making her feel better. She heard the baby crying, and, following the cry, she went to the bathroom, finding the dog dead, hanging on the wall. Written in the animal's blood was "People can lick, too." SOOO creepy!!

WolverineGirlXD Tuesday, 18 August 2009
Oh in this one sometimes the lady doesnt actaully get up to tighten the tap and there's an anouncement of a loose serial killer on the radio and written in blood on the shower is "People can lick too."

Good, but I know a better version.

That's good, and one of my favourite legends. I think I know which site you got that one from, because they also mentioned someone called Alex.
________ Sunday, 23 October 2011
It's a tragic story that begs the question of whether demonic possession is truly real or merely misunderstanding the effects of a legitimate medical disorder. There have been several movies to appear in recent times touching upon that very subject. There are so many who want to believe people can be possessed and others who feel such matters of spirituality are just outdated concepts left over from an earlier period in our history.

Mehh Saturday, 13 November 2010

T. L. Mills Tuesday, 2 March 2010
This story intrigued me when I first found out about it as well...in 2003 I had a daughter, we named her Auna-Leese (completely in the dark about this story even existing) then a short time after she was born I fell in love with the movie "Emily Rose" (I have a strange tinge for horror) but it wasnt until I became aware that it was based on a true story that I began research and to my suprise her real name... I was all alone upon my discovery in the basement of an old library and every hair on my neck stood up... if you believe in that sort of thing....my little girl has a few strange tendencies...nothing even close to the nature of emily rose but it's a little creepy coincidence to think of...especially if you know all the circumstances...

a GOATMAN DOESNT SOUND SCARY TO ME. srry capitols

something Sunday, 28 November 2010
We have our own local Goatman story where I come from. Apparently, there was some cray man who had legs and horns of a goat, I think they called him Lucifer. Anyways, he lived in the middle of the woods and had a pack of hounds, when he finally died, they called the dogs hell hounds because they protected the lot and forest of which Goatman/Lucifer lived. It's said if you go in there in the middle of the night and get out of your car, and lock your doors, you can hear the screaming of the Goatman and barks of dogs. Sometimes, you can see their gleaming red eyes. (What a load of poop.)

Love2Read Tuesday, 16 February 2010
Yes, it does remind me of Jersey devil. It is told that a mother wanted her baby to be a devil. When he was born his face was always longer, almost like a horse. Until one day he went in the woods and was never seen again. It is said that drivers that pass by the woods (there's a name to it, I forget) will see the monster-half horse/bird/ human. I still get the chills! I remember some ghost hunters were investigated this story...they ended it early because it was too scary.

*chills down my spine*

I can just imagine a goat thingy ontop of my car, come on? Metaldog Tuesday, 17 November 2009
There's an old story about a group of travelers who meet a stranger on the road, who wishes to join them. After a while, and a bit of conversation, they suddenly recognize him as their dead friend, and he vanishes into thin air. Where did I read that old story, you may ask? In the Bible, of course. The "ghost" was Jesus.

The hashslingingslasher...

chocolate lover Thursday, 17 November 2011
ok heres what i heard in the second one
a young couple were driving in the woods on a cold night. When a special report came on. "There is a murder loose pls stay indoors." The girl is immediately. after complaining a lot the boy agrees to leave but he needed to pee first. So the girl tries to relax in the front seat after an hour she hears scratches on the roof. She tried to ignore it and crawled into the back seat. every few hours she was woken up by the scraching. She woke in the morning to banging on the window and relized it was the police. They pulled her out and urged her not to turn around but the girl did any way. hanging from the tree above her. was her boyfriend the scratchhing had heard that night was his feet trying to get in.

This reminds me of a movie I saw that's like 1999 old and in the beginning, a girl woke up in a bathrrom covered in ice and she realized that someone had cut out something from her (a kidney? i dunno) and she tried to escape out of the wondow and a dog was barking and the killer came in and killed her.

Carter Bridges Saturday, 6 March 2010
... okey dokey... i'll watch out for that... :D

WolverineGirlXD Tuesday, 18 August 2009
why would there be a note telling the person to call 911 if the people are cruel enough to take out the person's kidneys wouldn't they be cruel enough to let them die?

xEllieEccentricitYx Wednesday, 22 July 2009
I don't believe it, mainly because, like it says, you can't ever verify the information, and it's never detailed.

What parent just randomly leaves their kid? I don't mind spiders but to have them all over you and like that would kill me.

sarah jessica Wednesday, 7 April 2010
i heard a different version of this in a scary stories book. it was better cuz it had said she had a spider bite and it kept getting bigger and bigger and then one night while she was in the bathtub it burst open because she had slept with her mouth open and the spider crawled inside and layed its eggs inside her cheek while she was sleeping. she did in shock.

Carter Bridges Saturday, 6 March 2010
oh... this one was funny too.

Carter Bridges Saturday, 6 March 2010
a teenage girl wants a doll????

S.L. Tyrn Sunday, 3 January 2010
I got a little story. Once I was at my friends house, which all her family claimed to be haunted by a demon (they saw little, devil-like figures running up and down the halls at night), and my friend was in her room and I was outside by their pool. She came out screaming, claiming that her porcelain doll had beckoned her with her hand at the threshold of her closet. They moved shortly thereafter.

WolverineGirlXD Tuesday, 18 August 2009
Another version the girl is just sitting in her bathtub and her cheek bursts with the spiders. *quivers*

Tyler England Sunday, 9 August 2009
Thank god I'm a boy. Note to self: when I have a daughter (if ever) check dolls hair and everywhere else for spiders and eggs

xEllieEccentricitYx Wednesday, 22 July 2009
Creepy. Porcelain dolls are often featured in horror stories, because many people (including me) find them frightening. But I haven't heard this one, and I find it scary because a female venomous spider could easily hide in the hair or flowing clothes of a porcelain doll.

I was watching Wizard of Oz the other night. When the seen came I new it was the edited version. They replaced the winging of the body in the original film to a flaping of a birds wings.

It is totally a bird. I watched the scene and it is definitely a bird.

Carter Bridges Saturday, 6 March 2010
i'll check it out....

WolverineGirlXD Tuesday, 18 August 2009
There was some mistaken things about this. The hanging thing is actually from a different seen where all the munchkins are dancing behind dorothy and one has half its body body cut out of the camera's view and is swaying back and forth so it looks like she is hung.

xEllieEccentricitYx Wednesday, 22 July 2009
It is actually a bird. We know this because no munchkin actors had arrived on set at that time.

Puppy Tuesday, 28 February 2012
Sounds like the movie Mirrors.

I tried it, but nothing happened. I think it's all bullshit anyway.

sarah jessica Wednesday, 7 April 2010
omg im inna dark room but my mirror is not facing me and on the other side of the room so i think that makes me safe(if i actually believed in all this anyway)

Aly Recinos Thursday, 25 March 2010
Ha I remember that several years ago, in 3rd grade, I splept with a mirror on my wall and I had just awoken from a dream and caught my reflection but what really made me scream was that me, with bedhead and dark shadows behind me, looked like some creepy girl coming to get me!

E.M. Wheeler Wednesday, 30 September 2009
There have been several movies, tv shows, etc that use this myth as you said. I don't exactly believe it but I can't bring myself to trying it. I did write my own version of bloody mary check it out if you'd like

oh and funny story about this is my friend and I were waiting for her mom at the dr office. We were both bored so we went into the bathroom and kept the bathroom lights off. We both kept teliing each other to call upon bloody mary neither one of us did and while we were arguing her mom opened the bathroom door and yelled got ya. It scared the crap out of us both.
R. A. Smigielski Friday, 28 August 2009
There probably are people found in bathrooms with there eyes clawed out, but I'd bet alot of money that it's a sick and deranged copycat.

Also, that last paragraph holds the reason why I sleep with the light on. I have a mirror in my room, and I would NEVER be able to sleep, wondering if Mary was going to come out and kill me. Whether you say you believe something or not, there's always one part of your mind that does, and is scared stiff because of it.

WolverineGirlXD Tuesday, 18 August 2009
Was there ever a true account of this happening to someone? Like someone being found in a bathroom with their eyes clawed out?

xEllieEccentricitYx Wednesday, 22 July 2009
Bloody Mary is a very common legend with a lot of variations. Personally, I don't believe it, but there are a lot of convincing stories out there, particulary one I heard that was featured in a newspaper, though I'm not certain whether it was Bloody Mary or not.

My own thoery about this legend is that it was started to make people more aware of safety at night.

it can happen guys not all gas stations have camras

Mehh Monday, 15 November 2010
I don't think people randomly come into your cars and try to kill you in a place that has a security system and cameras. So I don't believe this has ever happened.

sarah jessica Wednesday, 7 April 2010
oh wow.... yeah i don't believe it happened and was just out to get a couple of gullible ppl scared.

xEllieEccentricitYx Wednesday, 22 July 2009
Scary, but I don't believe it. Due to the nature of my comments, you may be starting to think of me as a skeptic, but you're wrong; they are many things I do believe in.

chocolate lover Thursday, 17 November 2011
i heard it like this
A women pulled into the gas station low on gas. While she's paying a man slips into her car a gas station worker sees it. The woman drove off despite the mans many protests so he hops into his truck to follow her. He sees the man in the back try to stab her so he flashes his lights. the girl sees that he is following her and drives faster. she turns down an old rode until she sees a man throwing gassaloline on the truck while the guy is in it. the truck explodes. She stops the car and gets out and sees the bad guy running towards her. But then she sees the knife u should have listened to him. he said just before he plunged the knife into her

Scary, and, yet again, I don't believe it. However, every legend you have here is a great camfire/sleepover story.

I've heard it before too, but it was an old hitchhiker on the street, that the lady kicked out while driving.

WolverineGirlXD Tuesday, 18 August 2009
One of them is like the lady finds a head in the bag.

xEllieEccentricitYx Wednesday, 22 July 2009
I've heard this one, but it is slightly different; in the one I heard, the woman started to drive, then pushed the old woman out, being suspicious about her. Then, as she drove away, she found out what was in the bag and called the police.

Whisper in the Night Thursday, 25 November 2010
Finally! An interesting book has finally been featured. Jeez, haha. I like this a lot, it's one of my favorites on here. And I saw that ghost whisperer episode you're talking about. This is both chilling and interesting.

adfkjhjklfds Saturday, 22 August 2009
The idea of an Urban Legend book is a good one, and the stories you are telling are pretty good. However, I have to say that your way of writing them could be improved. You should add more description to many of them, and enhance the "spooky" factor. You present many of the stories in a factual way, and it would be scarier if you made it less fact and more scary fiction :D. For example, the firsts Bloody Mary story you told is very short to-the-point. While that is a great style for many stories, it is not the best to use when trying to scare the reader. You should pick one verion and add description. Feel free to invent a little at the beginning: who Mary was, how she died, etc..Adding more description and taking out the factual side would make the stories even scarier. You also have a lot of repetitive myths, especially the one where someone follows the lone woman, flahsing his lights to stop the killer. It is scary once, but you should either put them in the same chapter, or only tell it once, or the reader will get bored of the story quickly. It' never scary the second time :D Other than that, it was very good :D Great work! :D :D :D

WolverineGirlXD Tuesday, 18 August 2009
eird why do these creepy pepz always have to be named mary ??? Lol

xEllieEccentricitYx Wednesday, 22 July 2009
Creepy. That's one I haven't heard, and one I believe because I believe in ghosts.
