Chapter 6
Wrong person

My fingers hover over the keyboard, my heart pounding. I glance around the library to make sure no one is watching then quickly type, 'signs of anorexia'. I click search and hundreds of results stare back at me. I click on the first one and my blood turns cold when I read them.
Physical Signs of Anorexia Nervosa-
-Severe mood swings; depression
-Lack of energy and weakness
-Slowed thinking; poor memory
-Dry, yellowish skin and brittle nails
-Lank and thin hair
-Tooth decay and gum damage
-Dizziness, fainting, and headaches
-Growth of fine hair all over the body and face.
I jump as I turn round and see Miss Collins watching over my shoulder. I quickly close the window and then log off the school computer, picking up my bag.
"Not so fast Summer. Are you ok? Do you want to talk?"
Oh great. Now she thinks I'm anorexic. I sigh and then say, "Miss, don't worry. It isn't me and the person who I'm worried about might not have it anyway. I'm probably just being stupid. Sorry", and before she can stop me, I'm out the door walking towards the hall.
I peep inside the gym at the year 9 aerobics class. A bunch of fitness freaks and running up and down, panting but a healthy glow to their cheeks. Then I see Katie. She's huddled in a tracksuit, shivering even though its warm in the gym. Her faces looks pale and painfully thin as she runs. I wonder what it's like to be so thin. I'm not exactly fat but I've always been a 'healthy weight', border line chubby. Mum says it's my build, big bones and hips. I sigh, for a split second wishing I was Katie's size. Then I see her shiver again with goosebumps on her neck and realize I'd rather be a little on the chubby side than ill. That was when I knew, Katie had a problem.
