Chapter 3
Solace in the storm

"Lea?!" Aden screams.

I can't tear my eyes away from the dark hall connecting this room to the kitchen, where the thing flew over to.

"Lea? Lea what's wrong?!"

All I can do is stutter. There's no way she's real?! She's just a movie character! Someone had to be pulling a prank on me.

"Lea, are you sure you're okay here by yourself?"

I smile and nod at him, his light hair kind of shimmering in the light from my porch.

"I'll text you if I freak out."

He smiles, but it's forced. "Alright. As soon as things get weird. Call me."

Geez, why is he being so pushy?!

"Yes, Aden. I promise. Now go and get some sleep."

He nods and walks away wairily. (I know I spelled that wrong -_-)

Turning around towards the kitchen, I have to clean up, maybe heat up some nachos or something....but I have to pass the long mirror. What other horror movie characters will follow me tonight? Besides, the light switch is on the other side of the hall. No thanks.

I sit on the couch and decide to watch something that has absolutely no scary factor whatsoever.

Yep, I watched SpongeBob Squarepants for three and a half hours before my stomach started to hurt.

I decide to take it like a woman and go inside, turn on the light, and make me some damn nachos!

I stand, the blanket wrapped around my waist like a skirt, take a deep breath, and begin my voyage into the unknown.

I made it into the kitchen, I HAD to stop in front of the mirror, the name Bloody Mary crossed my mind, but  I avoided the thought when I noticed my hair looked.....darker. Must have been the light. Right? I had the living room light on, and both my parents had naturally bright red hair. How was it getting darker?

I take another breath and reach out for the light switch. The sudden burst of light strains my eyes, and I wince, walking hurriedly towards the cabinet, and sitting on the counter while getting my stuff together. CAll me a baby if you want. YOU didn't see the grudge in your closet.

It's fast and sharp, instantly. I freeze, looking around me. Shit. I hurriedly reach for my phone and find Aden's number.

"I'm on my way!"

"Hurry! i hear her!"

It's weird to have someone I can be completely scared with. Honestly, I've never really been afraid of anything.

"Stay on with me Lea. I'm right here."

The front door swings open, lights turn on all at once, and I scream.

"Lea it's me!"

I fly into his arms, afraid to touch the floor.

"He carries me towards the door, turning me so I can't see the mirror when we pass it.

Buckled into the car, he stares at me through the window and runs around the front and gets in the drivers seat.

"What happened?" he asks.

"I heard her." I say, still scared out of my mind.

He leans over and grabs my face, making me look at him.

"Nothing is going to happen to you." he smiles. "Not while i'm here."

The whole way home, my eyes are plastered to the side of his eyes. How long had he been such a good friend? Looking back.....always.
