the world within me

Chapter 19
this special gift of mine

this special gift of mine

many times i watched in dismay
as i see people dance
beautifully they twirl and spin
and over the floor they prance

they take centre stage
conquer the spotlight
their flouncy skirts fly
as they dance away the night

many times i've heard the sound
of beautiful music they play
each note each tune a perfect pitch
dreaming i could play someday

they have rhythm and time
from a beautiful song
a talent so rich
it never goes wrong

many times have i
watched them draw
the pencil and paper
sketch and thaw

the pictures produced
too mesmerizing
the lines of magic
so enchanting

many times i read those stories
which never fail to capture my heart
with description so real and true
it holds attention right from the start

the words they may write
the dreams they compose
are peppered with insight
for every tale every prose

many times i see talented people
who do things i can never do
but each time i look at myself
i feel like failure too

they play and they write
they draw and they dance
they were born with these gifts
yet where is my chance

maybe i can do each one a little
only if i were willing to learn
but still which one am i the best in
when will it be my turn

my heart looks and seeks to find
someday this special gift of mine
to show to others how i shine
that i may have a gift so fine

this poem is about finding God's gift for you. though many gifts come in talents and abilities, they also come as morals and values. even if we cannot see those gifts, some day we will find them.
