Chapter 3
Beehive Supper

                            Beehive Supper

Mother Shipley opened the fridge door

Alas the shelf was bare

John Key peered over her shoulder,

“Who the hell has drunk all the beer?”

Jenny swiftly put the kettle on

To make a pot of tea

John politely declined the offer,

“All that stuff does is make me pee.”

Mother Shipley fetched the biscuit tin

Her brownies were famous everywhere

John loved the wacky-backy delicacies,

“Damned if Helen Clark doesn’t look like Cher!”

Jenny made some fancy coffee

The milk was frothed up and white

John inhaled the rich aroma,

“That smells better than the Beehive on a Friday night.”
