Piercing The Sky, A Book of My Poems
Author: Neil Evans

Chapter 153
Your Shadow

Your bleak shadow still sinks into me
Like a spider creeping in the darkness
Somehow I feel you're here beside me
At the same time you make me vomit
Into the abyss with all your memories

I wish you could just leave me alone
This time I don't want to be left cold
I don't want to feel my heart explode
Inside my chest it's a gaping wound
Maybe this is how it's supposed to be
But I don't like it with you beside me

Try to lie to me, I'll see right through
All the deception that you carve into
My aching chest, you're so evil to me
I wish I could change myself some day
Some way I'll find a place where I can
Have my final say, I won't wait for you

Every time I talk to you I have nightmares
I imagine you atop a hill with fire in your
Hands, and you use the fire to control me
You use it like a two sided ax, you cut me
Down to the ground and I cry and plead
But you never listen to me, do you?
