Chapter 96
Be OK by Tonite

Big gusts are heaving

The trees all about

Branches are breaking

Windows blowing out.

Grey clouds are roiling

And boiling the sky

And the short skirts are flying

In the dash to stay dry.

     Big drops are falling

Splatting the ground,

You can smell heat drying

As it steams off the mound.

A summer storm breaking

From out near the coast,

Salvation from baking,

Relief from the roast.

A cloudburst upon us

Sheets of rain

Visability is nil

Fork lightning, insane.

Thunder claps rolling

Across my window sill

Cattle mill nervously,

Above us on the hill.

Colours of cloudburst

Blue, greys and whites

With flashes of silver

In big lightning strikes.

Pandemonium everywhere

Leafage flies by

In clouds of debris

That black out the sky.

The day turns dark

Rain gushes from road,

Channels down gutters

And sluicing payload.

Reflections on tarmac

Headlights in gloom,

Indicators flashing

Wet tyres zoom

Abruptly it changes

Sunlight beams down

Chasing the rain away

Brightens the town,

Big puddles everywhere

Flashes of light,

Patches of blue sky,

 ...Be OK by tonight!
