Piercing The Sky, A Book of My Poems
Author: Neil Evans

Chapter 9
Be Careful

Right now I feel so good . . . I wonder how long it will last. I've been talking to someone that's really important to me recently, and I think that talking to the person is enough to bring back that spark that helps me write poetry. I'm a bit more confident this is poetry than I was about my other poems. Maybe I'll show the person the poems I've written recently, but they're not good enough for the person . . . not yet. Anyway, this was completed in seconds on July 13th, 2010, and I named it after it's repeating verse: Be Careful

Be careful when you touch these shoulders
They hold the weight of the world
Be careful when you grab these hands
They've committed the worst of crimes
Be careful when you kiss these lips
Sometimes they can burn
Be careful when you love this person
Because he's darker than you know
