Chapter 85
Time

"Time for breakfast, time for tea
It's high time that was done,
There's time enough for you to die
It's time your race was run !"

      Time is an adversary
      It trickles through my hands,
      It runs away like quicksilver
      Like gossamer in strands.
      Time leaves me stranded
As a dying whale is beached,
      Thwarting comprehension,
      It leaves me starkly leached.
There's no earthly way to fight it,
      The more that's crammed within
      Results in quicker dissipation,
      It escalates the panicking.

"Time for breakfast, time for tea
It's high time that was done,
There's time enough for you to die
It's time your race was won."

      Timelessness is farcical
      A myth, untimely shame.
Time wise your day is getting short,
      No time for feeling lame.
For irrespective of your card hand
Your time's up when it's flawed.
Those shifting sands just make no sense
And Big Ben is a fraud.

      Urgency is manufactured
      A modern day technique
Of creating value from the air
      And giving it a tweak.
Time is money big men say
      They sincerely make it sound
As if time's urgency is paramount
In life's frenetic merry go round.

"Time for breakfast, time for tea
It's high time that was done
There's time enough for you to die
It's time your race was won!"

The only way to beat old time
Is to hitch upon a star
And travel in this mornings light
       To timeless space afar.
        If it's agelessness you're after
        Where tomorrow never comes
        This mornings light and timelessness
Will keep your fool hide young.

But as far as I'm concerned my friend
And as far as time does go,
I'd prefer to age quite gracefully
        And enjoy the passing show.
When time depicts my race is run
And my bones begin to rust,
I'll gladly cash in all my chips
And turn this bloody time to dust!

"Time for breakfast, time for tea
It's high time that was done
There's time enough for you to die
THIS TIME THE RACE IS WON !
