the world within me

Chapter 4

Before what creepers call dawn

After the leaf threatening dusk

When light was all gone

And lay down an ebony musk

The village in which I lived

Was quieter than worms

The breath in which breathed

Were heard more than my squirms

The dark closed in on me

And I began to wonder

No more I can see

And then stroke the thunder

A flash of brighter lightning

A silhouette of the house

It came out from hiding

A small grey mouse

The shudder ran down my spine

When bright was the moon

I loved its brilliant shine

And daybreak must come soon

When all was silent again

I glanced around the walls

Upon its silvery paint

I heard deafening calls

A wolf was crying in the night

And bats higher than ravens

The starlight gave me my sight

And how much night saddens

When all seems to be dead

And all seems to be gone

Thinking I was to fade

God’s light through darkness shone

my definition of night and how the fears of night fades in comparison with God's glory
