Chapter 71
Hamster's death

Hamster’s death

Saturday after Saturday

I walk past my hamster cage

To see him curled up

Eases my frustrating rage

What leisure it must have

To lead a peaceful life

With nothing to fight for

Not having to face strife

How happy it must be

Happier than I

Each time I replenished its food

I wondered when it’d die

Now I see it limp

I didn’t notice it before

What I had called happiness

Was not joy anymore

Once it scurried far

Now its legs are weak

Perhaps it was in pain

Once it was so meek

Time just flew by fast

Doesn’t matter when

But too many things to do

Now hamster’s reached the end

Watch the hamster limp

Its life is almost over

So don’t wait anymore

It won’t live forever
