Chapter 13

Max walked toward us so mad it looked like she was emitting steam. I would have asked what was wrong if I hadn’t already known every detail of their conversation.

I felt sort of bad for Bella. So out of the loop. She was the only one here who couldn’t hear their conversation. I leaned down and kissed her cheek. She looked up at me with confusion painting her face.

“What was that for?” It was times like this I wished I could read her mind.

“What? I’m not allowed to kiss you without a reason for it?” I loved my logic on that one.

“Well, yes. But you usually don’t, usually there’s a reason.” Dang, she was right.

“I just felt bad for you, so as a reflex, I kissed you.” It was better to tell the truth on this one.

“Why would you feel bad for me?” I decided to stick with the truth no matter what the consequence.

“I felt bad because you are the only one here who can’t hear the conversation they were having over there.” She looked down like someone had just opened the Arc of the Covenant and she didn’t want her face to melt off. Yes I have recently watched Indiana Jones, I get bored at night! What else am I supposed to do?!
