Chapter 57
The Photographer

Dedicated with admiration to Mike Donoghue.
He came from distant Baltimore
In the northern U.S.A.
A print press operator
Is his nocturnal chosen trade.
He lives a modest quiet life
In his modest little house
And his passion are his "boys"
Two alley cats he thinks are "grouse".
He puts away his money
For a very special cause.
Every year or two he flys away
To this planets distant shores.
Michael takes his camera,
Micheal takes his film,
Micheal packs his bag
And travels far from tourist's realm
Micheal hires a driver
And he ranges far and wide
In his pilgrimage for magic shots,
Seeking photographic pride.
He flies above the mountain tops
The yawing crater lip.
He scrambles over rocky shores
And up the valley slip,
He photographs volcanos
And tiny alpine plants,
He photographs the forest giants
And watches shadows dance.
He shoots the surging, raging surf
The wind in blowing grass.
The flying snow on windswept peak
Soaring eagles in the pass.
His passion and his talent
Are relentless in their quest,
And this man is never satisfied
Until he has achieved his very best.
His energy is feverish
Through glowing searching eyes
And the sound of rapid shutter speed
Is camera action that implies
That this man is painting landscapes,
Painting portraits with his lens
And the title of PHOTOGRAPHER
Is his award from this new friend.
