Chapter 4
Chapter Four

On the night of the art fair, Maggie won first place for "Best Animal Drawing". She got a blue ribbon, and won twenty-five dollars.

"Oh my gosh, I won! Yay! I can't believe it!" Maggie exclaimed. All of her friends congratulated her, and so did Amandalyn, Daisy, and Grandmom. Maggie thought she was going to save up her money to buy the newest RotaPod, called the RotaPod Touch. It was a RotaPod that you could play games on. She knew that it was the coolest thing in town, and it had a touch screen. It cost about two hundred dollars. She had thirty saved from other occassions, and now she has the twenty-five more. I'll get there, soon, Maggie told herself.

When they went home, Daisy asked her what she was going to do with the money. Maggie told her about the RotaPod that she wanted.

"Cool," said Daisy.

"Mhmm, yup," Maggie said.

The next day, they went to Grandmom's house. The plant still had not sprouted. They wondered why. They thought maybe they just should wait.

"I really want to see them growing!" Daisy complained.

"Me too, but you're going to have to wait. All things take time. You girls take time to grow, as does everyone else." Grandmom explained.

"But I want them to grow now!" Daisy said.

"Be patient. They will grow." Grandmom assured her.

"But when, Grandmom, when?!" Daisy asked.

"Soon, I promise." Grandmom told her. Daisy sighed, and went on the couch to watch TV. She turned on her favorite show, Manny and Maya, the Pineapples. Maggie went and sat next to her.

"Daisy, I want the plants to grow soon, too. But, we have to wait, and keep taking care of them, so they don't get brown and shrivel up. Then they won't grow at all. You don't want that to happen, do you?" Maggie asked.

"No," Daisy said.

"Neither do I," Meggie told her. "They will grow, sometime, I promise."

"Really, you really do?"

"Yes, I really do. Even Grandmom said the same thing. She knows they will grow, so do I. But we just don't know when. Give the flowers time. They will someday grow into beautiful bright plants. We just have to wait, and keep taking care of them."

"I know. But it's just hard waiting so long for them to grow!"

"I know that."

"So, that's why I get mad. Because I run out of fun things to do, while I'm waiting. I don't feel like doing crafts anymore. I want to do something new, something exciting, something fun."

"Like... shopping?"

"Yeah! Want to ask Grandmom if we can go?"

"Sure, but I'm just going to look. Remember, I'm saving up for a RotaPod Touch. But I'll help you pick out stuff.

"Ok, that's fine. Grandmom! We want to go shopping! Will you please take us to the market?"

"Oh, of course I will! Maggie, you have your cell phone, right?" Grandmom asked.

"Yup, Grandmom, I do." Maggie replied.

"Ok, I'm going to go shopping on my own. You two will stay together. If anything bad happens, call me. Though, it is a small store, and we should see each other most of the time..." Grandmom said, giggling. Maggie and Daisy laughed.

Daisy found a really cute yellow tank top, white t-shirt, and yellow hair accessories. They all matched. Daisy's favorite colors are yellow and white; the colors of a daisy. They went into the dressing room to try on the clothes. "Hmm, Maggie, how do you think I look in this?" Daisy asked, coming out of the dressing room. She had the yellow tank top over the white t-shirt.

"You look great! Maybe add some white capris, and then add those hair accessories. You could wear that to school tomorrow," Maggie said.

"Good idea, I think I will," said Daisy, twisting, to see as much as she could.

All of a sudden, they hear Grandmom scream.
