Chapter 165
Ode to Pamela

Luscious in your tiny scarf

Your generous lines did fall,

Whilst rapacious men devoured you

With a predator's eyeball

And the females lined the catwalk

Dripping diamonds, pearl and gold,

Their body language archly tense,

Green lizard eyes behold.

There's a monster at your elbow

With a cold and menaced look,

And the gigolo beside you

Plays the gay fool by the book.

But the tragedy before me

Is reflected in your eyes

They are granite and unseeing

...And therein your beauty dies.

With your money and your famousness

Your entourage on call,

Do you feel a certain emptiness,

And long to change it all ?

Do you yearn to walk the hillside

All alone on Autumn days ?

Feel the freshness of the fall wind

In the leafage as it plays ?

Should you shed the complication

Of your brittle life of now ?

Or succumb to fame and fortune's

Dead eyed future, anyhow ?
