Chapter 160
Bernard's House

We can see the house there Bernard

Standing high atop the hill,

We can feel it's grace and spaciousness

And it gives us such a thrill.

With it's Alpine-ness and airy feel

The open living space,

Set against the native bush, the fantails

And the wood pigeons of this place.

A Taranaki hideaway,

A bolt hole from the world,

A magic place of garden joy

And poetry unfurled.

Your designs have a purity

And freshness that we like,

We look forward to a roof toast

In the golden evening light.

We look forward to barbecues

And dinner parties with our friends,

And the sense of having somewhere

To call home which comprehends.

A spot of living loveliness

To call our very own,

A canvass for our artistry,

In a warm and stately home.

With great appreciation
