Chapter 30
Dads poem

By the light bulb shade
The charge of the light brigade
Was read to us kids by dad

On top of the stairs
We forgot all our cares
As dad gave it all that he had

Colourful Cavalry men horses so brave
Dad told us how they all went to their grave
Lord tennyson's poem
But it belonged to dad

After the recycle we would jump into bed
With thunderous volleys inside our head
We survived the charge
We were all glad

I used to wish dads poem would never end
On top of granddad's barbers right on the bend
In white hart lane three floors above

There was a back drop of steam trains smoking and screaming
Dads voice would grow louder his eyes would start beaming
This was were we discovered love ...
