Lost and Surfacing

Chapter 80

They're slipping away
Fast, fast as the wind
Through my fingers
And drifting away on the limbs of trees
Leaving behind the rustle of the leaves
Little lines etched in green
Lines of age and lines of letting go
I'm letting them fly off
Because they wouldn't leave like the wind
If they didn't care enough
If I didn't care enough
There's just another ring in the bark
And tomorrow's a new day
