the world within me

Chapter 98
The God who is

What beauty that this earth would show
The loveliness displayed
And yet how could I see Godís love
Except through the price He paid

Itís one thing to admire
The greatness of the earth
The sunrays that filter through the trees
The happiness of new birth

But nature as wonderful
As it may be
Can never show great love
Through its finite beauty

And through the cross
Can we only see Godís holiness and love
A personal creator
Not someone too high above

And everyone may know deep inside
There is a God around
But running away is what we do
We donít want to be found

Yet it is not enough to know
The story of the cross
Unless to believe and to truly trust
That He has borne the cost

What great joy should come upon
When once we know our God
Then we would never hope
To push away the Lord

Still flawed and imperfect
Still weak and broken
But once we take the side
Of the Lord who has spoken

I could never see the glory enough
Through natureís beautiful scene
But only deep inside of me
Could I one day truly have a trust unseen
