Chapter 5
Whispers of the Rain

Listen carefully to this song…

Hear the droplets lightly tapping the inclined roof

With each plunk hear the steamy breath of the wind

As she softly lets the cool air leave her clear, pursed lips

A light, yet deep rumble sends goose bumps crawling upon your pale skin

A sphere of yellowy white hangs in the sky

Watching the water fall below her

As if to be tears of sorrow falling from her gleaming eye

But the rain is neither sorrow nor loss

Livid recollections poor into my mind

Days and nights in which I would dance

Soaking the liquid like a dying animal in the scorching desert

Rather than hearing simply… rain

I heard whispers of wisdom

From souls I often believed in

Now I understand for everyone else

It is impossible and far fetched

I go along, pretending to agree

But must I nod my head and put on a face

When to this day I still hear the whispers

Of the rain?
