Chapter 4
In the Principal's office Gideon's POV

The black kid who stood up for me got a bloody nose and as for myself, I received a tremendous black eye. We were quite a pair as we strolled down the hall towards the principal's office.

"Say, you ain't ever been to the principal's before am I right?" He turned to me, blood still pouring down his nose.

"Yeah, how did you know?" By now I was just talking to a person with a red balloon for a head. "You should clean up you know. It's all over your face..." I said awkwardly.

"Nah, I'm gonna scare little Miss Pottel with this face, so may be she will let us off easy. Besides, girls like tough boys and the blood makes me look tough." He smiled. "Say, you new? Name's Whiz. Yours?"

"Gideon Richerty. I just moved here." We shook hands as we stopped in front of Miss Pottel's office.

"Better brace yourself." Whiz said, taking a deep breath and opened the door.

I have always imagined the principal's office was like the dungeons. Where kids dread to go. Where we get severe punishments on the cold marble floors. But the room we entered was pale yellow and the heater was on. Every thing was light warm and glowing... I stared.

"We're here to see Miss Pottel."

The secretary behind the desk looked up at Whiz and sighed."She's expecting you."

Whiz led me into another room, also very very yellow. A woman with puffy dyed hair looked up. Her hair was so...big that I suspected it was a wig.

"It's real." Whiz whispered, chuckling. As if he knew what crazy thoughts were going through my head.

"Sit." Miss Pottel stood up, her green eyes ablazed and her hair reached towards the ceiling. She was a giant towering over us. Whiz didn't even flinch.

"I should have guessed." She said. "You think you can get away with this don't you? You think you are so clever huh? I have always thought your name was stupid. Yes, I can insult my students all I want. I hate kids who think they are better than adults. Kids who think they are just so...superior." She hissed like a snake.

"Please, miss." I said hurriedly. "Whiz just came to my rescue. I was getting hit and..." Whiz stepped on my foot real hard and I cringed.

"Shhh..." He whispered.
