This is a book of poems about my life, my longing to be accepted, and just poems that just make you think about how short and precious life is. I guess you probably think, sure I'm 12, but this girl has a lot to say. We all hide our feelings behind a veil, well this book is basically the real truth behind the veil.

My name is Miranda. When I was in the sixth and seventh grade, I struggled with a lot of things-the schoolwork, my self-confidence and self-image, who my friends really were, and who I truly was. I was scared to branch out beyond what I knew and was scared about growing up.

In the eighth grade, I met and fell in love with a guy who helped me find the self-confidence and love I needed. Though we broke up a few times and went through some very difficult times, weíre still together and very happy.

Now, Iím a freshman in high school. I have stood up for myself and now donít care for otherís opinions about me. I have gotten to know a lot of people in my high school that are accepting of me. Iím excelling at school. I have an amazing boyfriend who loves me and whom I love.

To make a long story short, I was once not happy. Now I am and I donít ever want to not be unhappy again.

Note: I started this book when I was twelve and in the sixth grade. Over the past few years, Iíve added to and changed this book. Not all the original poems are in here and will not be. I hope you enjoy the book. Thanks for reading.

***NOTE: The cover says "No one can tell you who you are."***

the truth is most knowledge comes to use and we become wiser only when the bad happens

scars are not meant to be seen but shamed and hidden and those who tell us to give them up and wear them like we're proud are the ones who don't know what its like to be damaged on the inside

the truth of all people is we wear a mask and every day and put them on as we dress, for they only come off in the solitude of being alone with your thoughts
