Chapter 7
Stand Up and Fight

If we all followed the generations before us, we would still have racism.

It's time to become our own generation and fight for true equality.

For ourselves, for our peers, and everyone around the world dealing with the problems that always seem to arise when a person is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, or any other orientation under the rainbow.

As the new generation, there are things we can help change. Just like years ago when MLK fought for black people to have the same rights as the white people. He stood up for what was RIGHT. What he KNEW, not believed, was something that needed to be changed. He believed that all PEOPLE deserve the same rights. Just like when women were trying to earn their rights. Their rights to vote and be just as important as the male.

The Declaration of Independence says, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." This was written almost 250 (236) years ago. And it says that all of man should be treated equally. That they have the right to be HAPPY. Do you think the blacks were happy getting treated like crap for something they didn'd choose? Do you think women were happy being denied rights just because they were female? And do you think Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenderes, and all the other sexual orientations are happy getting beat up because of the way they were born? 

NO. The blacks fought for their rights. And WON.

Women fought for their rights. And WON.

Now, the gay community is fighting for their rights.

Its time everyone opens their eyes and puts themselves in anothers shoes.

Imagine that your son or daughter or even yourself was born gay. (Being gay is not a choice, it is the way you are BORN.) Now imagine trying to just be happy but not being able to. Not having the chance because when people find out, they start to bully you. Call you names, beat you up at school, beat you up walking home from school, telling you that youare going to hell, telling you that being in love is wrong just becasue it is someone of the same sex, being told you aren't allowed to marry because people are saying they don't like it, so you can't do it. Sucks, huh? It sucks knowing that you will never be happy because there are always people tearing you down. Calling you names. Telling you that the way you live is wrong.

But who has the right to tell you the way you live is wrong.

Some poeple don't like tattoos.

Some people don't like peircings.

Some people don't like forieners.

Some people dont like girly girls, or jocks.

Some popele don't like Jews, or Mormons.

But have they outlawed those things. NO.

And why have they not? Who knows??? 

 

It is time to make a change. Change happened for women, and black people, now it needs to happen for any person apart of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) and every other orientation under the rainbow, community.

They are born this way and they deserve to be happy, just like every other person. It shouldn't matter who they love. LGBT people don't care who straight people love, so why should straight people get to care who LGBT people love?

It shouldn't take a war or people dying to realize that equality is what is right. It should take a new generation to promote peace and equality for EVERYONE. 

Get eduacated. Talk to people going through this hate. Join a GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance). Think before you speak.

Take the step to True Equality.

Towards no more discrimination.

No more suicides.

No more FEAR.
