Chapter 26
Jonah

Luke was smart, I had to give him that.

I'd never in a million years believe that he'd manage to pull one over on Blain, but he had. I stood up reluctantly from my perch on his lip and stood beside the bed. I picked up the pyjamas and rubbed the cloth between my fingers before I pulled them on. They were soft and comfortable. Luke handed me a pair of slippers and I put them on too. I stood on my tiptoes to kiss him gently on the lips. "Thank you," I whispered.

"You're welcome," He replied, smiling. "Are you hungry now?"

"Yeah, are you?" I replied, wrapping my arms around his neck. He hitched my legs up and I wound them around his waist.

"Starving," He replied, kissing me and placing me on the bed. He fed me and I fed him.

I'd never felt happier.

When we were done, Luke sat on the chair and I sat on his knee, facing him with my legs around him. "I love you," I told him, for the umpteenth time that night.

"I love you too." He replied, kissing my neck.

"I love you more," I told him, snuggling closer to him.

"No, I love you more," He said.

"I love you most, double locked, no answer backs. Ha!" I said, tickling him.

"How old are you? Seventeen or seven?" He chuckled.

"Seven!" I replied, giggling. "Paedo."

"Shut up," He tickled me. He picked me up again ad put me on the bed, still tickling me while I squirmed.

"Stop it! Stop, please!" I said, between peals of laughter.

"It'll cost you a snog," He told me. I sat up and kissed him passionately.

"Happy now?" I asked, smiling.

"Yes," He replied. He glanced at my bag, dumped by the door. "What have you brought with you?"

"Nothing," I bent my head and flushed. I didn't want Luke to know the kind of things Blain sent me to tricks with.

"Jo-Jo, sweetheart, you can tell me," He tilted my head so I was looking him in the eye. "You don't have to be embarrased. I just want to know because I want to know what that perverted freak is making you do."

"I..." I sighed. "Just.... I dunno..." I'd used the bag so many times I'd memorized every item in it, but I didn't want to tell him that. "Handcuffs and rope and gags and stuff." I shrugged.

"Oh people don't make you..." He began. I sighed and looked down. "Oh darling, thats horrible!" He squeezed me.

"It's alright. Well. It's not, it's all wrong, but I'll survive," I said, kissing the joint between his neck and his shoulders. "I don't mind wearing one set of handcuffs or being tied to the bed as long as it's loose, like. But I hate it when they gag me and blindfold me and stuff. I really do hate the dark."

"I know you do, angel," He said, rolling over, so he was propped up above me on his elbows. "When we get back home, I'll get you a nightlight, eh?"

"What d'you mean?" I blinked up at him, confused. "Lukey, I love you but I'm not going back to London with you."

"Wha... why not?" He looked hurt and reproachful. "The only reason I came to Manchester was to get you back."

"I know, cupcake, but..." I sighed. "Look, Blain might be uneducated, but he's not stupid. If I run away with you he'll click on that it was you I was staying with. He knows where you live and everything, baby, that two faced dickhead Elliot told him."

"I don't care. He's hurting you baby boy, I just want you to be safe," He stroked my hair off my face and looked into my eyes. "Please, Jo. I'll take you away, some place he can't hurt you anymore."

"Oh, don't Lukey, your breaking my heart," I said, feeling tears form. I sat up, pulling him with me. He kissed the space just below my eye.

"Don't cry, my angel," He said, cuddling me close. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry."

"You didn't," I shook my head. "Lukey, I'm just so scared. I'm just so confused. I don't know what to do. I'm only seventeen- I'm just a kid, Luke. I know I act like I'm so mature and old for my age, but I'm not, Lukey. I'm not."

"You are, sodapop, you're so mature," He kissed my neck.

"No I'm not," I said. "I've never even met her, but sometimes I wake up at night, and I just... I want my mum."

"We all get like that sometimes, precious," He kissed me again. "It doesn't mean your immature."

"I want to come back with you- I really want to," I told him, leaning against his chest. "But when Blain figures it out he'll be fuming with both of us. I don't care so much about me but I don't want you to get hurt."

"I won't," He said. "I'll go to the police about him."

"No! Luke, I've told you, I can't go to the police!" I said, properly crying now. "I'll go to jail too - it's illegal to be a prostitute. Do you have any idea what happens to young guys like me in jail? Especially if they found out what I was in for?"

"Oh, come on, you don't actually believe those stories, do you?" He said, kissing my temple.

"Yes, Luke. I believe them because it's true," I sobbed. "I know it's true. Blain was in jail for three days for shoplifting and it happened to him."

"Well... you don't know it'll happen to you..." He said. I shook my head.

"Yes I do, Luke. I'm a seventeen year old prostitute," I reminded him. "As soon as those guys find that out they're gonna be all over me like a rash. At least when I'm living with Blain, I can ask them if their clean. If they aren't I can make them wear a condom. That's not going to happen in prison is it? And I doubt they're likely to use lube. Do you have any idea how much it hurts when they go in dry?"

"No, but..." He began.

"Look, teddy bear, I'll stay with you tonight if you want," I told him. "I'd love to stay with you tonight. But after that, in the morning you just... you go back to London. You get on with your life and forget you ever met me."

"How can I do that? I love you," He said, tears gleaming in his eyes.

"I love you too, baby bear, but... come on. Look at you. You're gorgeous. You'll pull again anytime you like," I said, pressing my lips on his forehead. "You can get anybody you want."

"I don't want anybody. I just want you," He choked out.

"You're all I want too. And... I promise, I'll come abck to you as soon as Blain gets sick of me... it won't be long, he already prefers Adam anyway."

"Adam?" He repeated.

"New kid, works for Blain. He's only fourteen, bless him," I said. "Poor thing's terrified."

"Ah, bless." He said.

"Can we stop talking about this now?" I begged. "I wanna make the most of my time with you."

"Okay," He leaned forwards and kissed me. "I promise I'll help you somehow. I love you."

"I love you too," I replied.

There was more truth in those four words than any I'd ever said in my life.
