Chapter 33
33

James
I looked into her eyes and wanted to kiss her. But I knew it wasn't the right time. She's at least letting me hold her, and that's enough. I'm tired of being her enemy. I'm falling for her and I don't want her to be angry with me anymore.
Eventually, her breathing was even and she was asleep. Her grip around me was tight so at least she felt comfortable.
But looking into her eyes made me think of all the things I could do to her. But with everythings thats happened I know I can't.
Its just that, looking into her eyes and being this close to her... I just... I don't know.
I pulled away slowly and walked to the bathroom.
After I used it, I walked to the kitchen and grabbed an apple. I'm not really that hungry anyway.
I walked back to the bedroom and watched her sleep. She was peaceful. But thunder struck and she flinched. She reached out and I wasn't there. I felt something when she did that. Like, it was going to happen again. I'll make sure it doesn't.
"James... don't... go..."
She was talking in her sleep? I walked over to the bed and saw tears running down her cheeks. "Is?" I shook her a little and she woke up.
"James? What's going on?"
I guess I shouldn't mention it. "You were having a night mare. I saw you crying. Are you okay?"
"Um..." She wiped her head. "I'm fine." She reached out for her glasses and put them on. "I see it's still raining."
She looked out the window, avoiding my gaze. "Look, about everything..."
"James, like I said, its your life. I can't control i-"
"Not yet. Here." I walked to my suitcase and took out the ring she never accepted. I walked over to her and got on one knee. "Look, I know we have out arguments. And a lot lately. And I know you can hate me all you want, but... will you marry me?"
She grew wide eyed, but didn't faint like I expected her to. Or run away. She held my eyes and nodded yes. I smiled and hugged her as tight as I could. "I don't care if you don't believe me Is. I love you and I have for this whole time. I'm in love with you." I felt her hug back and pull back. This time, she kissed me, and didn't pull away.
I'm engaged. She said yes. Candy's out. No more drama. Why does this sound so hard?
