Chapter 114
This Indian Summer

Wide blue skies of pastel blue

Not a cloud in sight,

Zephyr breezes chase the air

And the temperature is right

The summer heat has fled the scene

The winter's raw to come

This Indian Summer reigns supreme

With golden Autumn sun.

The days are brisk and balmy

The nights are chilled and crisp

An early mornings crescent moon

Hangs blue with silver wisp.

The glow from east horizon

Intensifies to green

And the golden rays of rising sun

Shine forth from dawn's dark theme.

Green leaves are turning golden

Golden leaves turn red

Fallen leaves do billow

To a windblown, rainbow bed.

The birds migrate in thousands

To sweep across the air

They wheel as one in massed display

To alight in treetops bare.

The air portrays a promise

Of magic to be seen,

The forest on the ridge line

Stands in vaulting halls of green

The mountains are a misty blue

That run down to the sea

Where sun kissed waves are shimmering,

Where flying fish may be.

As day departs in hallowed light

The golden orb descends

To radiate it's sunbeams

And the brilliant colour blends

Through magenta to purple

To a velvet shade of green,

Then the inky cloak of evening

Ends this Indian Summer's dream.
