Piercing The Sky, A Book of My Poems
Author: Neil Evans

Chapter 160
I Will Be

I am
Everything you hated
Anger-filled, something you wanted
Taste me and you find I'm nothing

I was
Everything you loved
Joyful, caring and kind
Something you could never take

I will be
Everything that I am
Angst, ignorant, faithful
Something you could never handle

I won't be
Someone I'm not
Because I'm happy with who I am
And if you can't take it, back away

I won't believe
The fairy tales you cast out to me
Telling me this will get better
No, I don't believe that anymore

I won't
Make you happy again
And I swear I won't
Be there for you again

So I'll just wait here for you
If you still want me, you'll come around
If not, don't give anymore hope
Because you're just tempting the hopeless
With your charade of love
With your promise of faithfulness
I love you, I hate you
I need you, I don't want you
I can't find the words to explain
But it's just that everything is nothing
And I'm falling off the top
