The Worst of my Poetry
Author: Jordan Yates

Chapter 16
Mr. Popular

You were a person of the future

A soul of a new world

You could have ruled the world

But you ran into an obstacle

Not just an issue

Not another part of life

It didn’t just hinder your reign

It stopped your life altogether

Texted your friends

Let them have everything you owned

Then drove on College Drive

And rammed into a pole

Split the pole in two

And you came to a violent end

But, before you died

Was there that second thought?

I have two sisters

And two loving parents

I have a boatload of money

And a really great life

Why am I doing this?

Why kill myself now?

I'm Mr. Popular

I'm famous at NC

Everyone knows my name

I master everything I do

Yet I'm speeding towards the light

And running the light to the ground

Everyone loved you!

Your funeral was so full

People were forced to stand

And the room was as crowded as could be

If you could have seen it

The people that loved you

And the people that cried

That had never met you

They just knew your name

And what you were

But now you lie

In the cold earth's grasp

We all miss you!

Junior highs were talking about you too!

And the teachers made us not speak about you

Because they would all cry

We got lengthy speeches on suicide

And why not to do it

Now we all think back…

Why then, and why you?
