Piercing The Sky, A Book of My Poems

Chapter 23
We Gave It A Try

I think you can tell, this is a follow-up on my last poem. As I mentioned before, I was amused at how 'Let's Give It A Try' turned out, and I decided: I want to continue that flow. Also, I've been using the intros of my poems as the endings, recently. From peer criticism, I have been told this makes the endings a bit . . . incomplete. I'm not sure what I'll do about this, but I must say I'm glad I'm writing poems that actually got 3 stars. Anyway, on with my poem. Finished July 27th, 2010 around 1 AM, it is called: We Gave It A Try

I smile, the Devil in my eye
I'll fight forever, I'll never die
I once said 'let's give it a try'
But all I do is make you cry

We plunge together into the hate,
Our hands clenched, we fight against Fate
But I know that it will only be a short wait

Still, I hold your hand and know
You will never, ever let go
No matter how much we grow
You will never, ever let go

And we always fight,
Every day, every night
Just to hold each other
To be with one another

You smile, the devil in your eye
We will always fight, we will never die
We once said, 'let's give it a try'
And since then, we have never cried
