Piercing The Sky, A Book of My Poems
Author: Neil Evans

Chapter 1
My First Poem

I wrote this a while ago. It was my first ever attempt at poetry. I thought some of it was good, but it's very long, and I added more onto it at some point, which didn't help at all. Anyway, I would like you to try and figure out what the poem is about, but I doubt it will be very hard to tell. Without further adieu, My First Poem:

If life is so short, why is death so sudden?
Why is life so painful?
Why would some of us aspire to die?
If the dark is so bad, why do we usually
die in the morning?
Pull your hair out!
Scream and pout!
You can pray to Jesus,
But he won't come out.
The monsters in your closet
Won't go away,
You can sleep with the lights on
You're dead anyway.
I've told you once,
I've told you thrice,
I'm sorry for all of the lies,
But now's the time to finally die.
Would you like to drown in a bucket of tears,
Or would you like to die of just plain fear?
