Chapter 25

I walked away from the back window. I didn’t want to end up recognizing one of the wolves. Instead, I went upstairs to Edward’s room. I couldn’t make it up the stairs before the howling started. I turned on his massive stereo and cranked up the volume. I sunk onto the couch in the corner. A small movement out of the corner of my eye made me jump. Fang popped his head around the door and smiled at me. I motioned for him to come sit down by me. He closed the door and plopped onto the couch next to me. It was quiet for a long moment before Fang sighed.

“I know its wrong, but, I still kind of like you,” Fang said, looking down at his broken arm. I was speechless. After all that he STILL liked me! He turned and started to lean toward my face like he was going to kiss me. I shoved his shoulder back before he got the chance.

“Sorry,” he mumbled. I stared at him, appalled. I brought my fist back to try to punch him but he ducked at the last second. I heard a spine tingling crack as my fist smashed against the wall. I screeched and jumped away from the couch. Edward was at my side in a flash already towing me toward the kitchen. Fang tried to follow us to the kitchen table where Carlisle was already waiting, but a deep growl from Edward had him backpedaling. I saw one last apologetic look before he left the room.
