Chapter 15

Max and Fang walked back and stood in front of us, six feet away from each other.

“It would be very… beneficial for us to stay together for a while.” Edward said, struggling for the right words.

“There’s only one problem with that plan. We have the rest of our flock hiding at some cave in, that direction,” Max said pointing to the North. There were other flying kids?! I have no idea why I’m so surprised. Like I said, every mythical creature in existence finds me of all people. We should go with them.

“Well, we would be delighted to accompany you on your trip back, if it’s alright with you two of course.” Edward said flashing his brilliant smile, dazzling Max for a moment before she shook her head and returned to reality.

“Sure, I don’t see why not,” Max said softly, still not totally snapped out of her daze.

“Lead the way,” Edward said as he slung me over his shoulder. The unexpectedness of it made me squeak. Faster than I could blink, they were in the air, and we were running. We weren’t running very fast, but we were still zipping through the forest at an alarming speed. That doesn’t mean I wanted to close my eyes though. Instead I looked up, and watched Max and Fang fly high overhead.
