"The soft rays pushed the clouds apart and illuminated the hidden alley, falling down onto the frail, lifeless body of a patchy, dark rat. Its glass eyes were fixed in a fear-stricken gaze as the sparkling fingertips of the mournful sun stroked its gentle face. The beam shone down, breaking through the now scattering clouds, putting the body into a spotlight. Particles of dust swirled around, landing softly onto the rat's whiskers, which had stopped twitching long ago. A pair of small flies, destined to life another hour at most, paid their respects to the body before briskly humming on their way. A miniscule size of rotten apple had pushed itself out of the rat's ajar mouth, perching on its rubbery lips."

When the largest mischief in town is forced to separate, two young rats manage to sew together the threads of a new friendship. The enemies that lay in waiting, ready to crush their only dream - to be free - aren't a match for their undeniable companionship as they race down alleys and defend each other, right until the bitter end.
