“We are not immortal.”
The people of Aurlin live a near perfect society. Schooled from birth to be the best of intellectuals in all aspects, housed in a cathedral of white marble and golden windows—they live in cities far above the rest of the world, the Lands Below.
Feld spends his life as a graduated nobleman with his circle of three friends: Ali, a youthful queen, Warren, an affable mathematician, and Sovan, an enigmatic philosopher—but he's bored. He searches his home for something—anything to occupy him but these thoughts, spending his time in the lauded Avitorium where noblemen like him can take the shapes of birds and dwell in the fierce, distorting Lands.
And deep within forests of untamed magic and dreadful creatures, he finally finds his inspiration...
