“We are not immortal.”

The people of Aurlin live a near perfect society. Schooled from birth to be the best of intellectuals in all aspects, housed in a cathedral of white marble and golden windows—they live in cities far above the rest of the world, the Lands Below.

Feld spends his life as a graduated nobleman with his circle of three friends: Ali, a youthful queen, Warren, an affable mathematician, and Sovan, an enigmatic philosopher—but he's bored. Bored and depressed of the white and of the stone. His curiosity is his only savior as he explores dark caverns long forgotten beneath the cathedral of his birth. And, against all odds, he finds what he's been looking for—a sanctuary. So begins his novel.

But what to write about? The question haunts him in his seemingly empty existence. The words on his paper are as dark and foreboding as the forsaken office he spends his time in—something so scornful he loathes to look at it. He searches his home for something—anything to occupy him but these thoughts, spending his time in the lauded Avitorium where noblemen like him can take the shapes of birds and dwell in the fierce, distorting Lands.

And deep within forests of untamed magic and dreadful creatures, he finally finds his inspiration...

Just awesome. All I have to say. It was so beautiful and awesome. I also read on your profile that you liked Brandon Sanderson. He's one of my favorite too. Come check out my story the Knights of Night. I think you'd like it.

I just came back to read some more chapters (only 2 were posted when I first commented) and it immediately became clear I needed to upgrade my rating. Your style makes this flow nicely with real flair. I would point out some flaws if only I could find any.

I love poetry that rhymes, is beautiful, and makes sense. This is perfect, and matches all of the above criteria. Great writing(:
