A barren cell. Four cold walls. And a screw.
He is the prisoner amongst prisoners - feared and loathed by even the most notorious criminals. Sanctioned to an isolated cell underground, John White has the urge to document his journey on the walls. The suffocating recollection of a death on his watch - a death that has driven his most wicked actions - propels him to carve a list on the concrete.

What an incredible piece of writing! It's an extremely chilling hook that absolutely graps the reader's attention. Will be sure to keep up with this.

This was very cold and distant, as if the character were a ghost watching over the scene. I really enjoyed the imagery, it gave me shivers!

Great start; straight into it.
In the first few sentences I was concerned that it was going to get a bit verbose but then the flow kicked in and I was hooked. Enough mystery to keep you reading but not too much as to put you off. Compelling as hell. Looking forward to the next section

I'm sorry, I loved "Why?" and just had to check this out, as brief as it is - and I am so glad I did. There's a reason you're published, this was magnificently written. Awesome, you have structure, technique, blatant skill. I can think of nothing else to add, other than - please post more on here! :)
