Uskusto: An arena fighter. Uskusto lost the love of his life. He was imprisoned for the very violent murder of another woman who supposedly tried to sell her body to him. Uskusto was raised a fighter, able to use his speed to kill men twice his strength, and his power to crush men that were much quicker than him. Uskusto will be given freedom, but only if he aids in the war.
Jack Clayton: The most gifted man in the world. He was given a gift from the gods: The Clearance. Jack has little physical strength, but, because of his gift, he can overpower even the biggest juggernaut. Jack spends his time making weapons, training, doing tedious things just to preoccupy him. He was offered anything that the Empress could give him, all that he has to do is aid in the war. How could he refuse?

I Think the books good. Although the fact that there is not a single fighter in all of the empire seems kind of strange. But hey, its your book not mine.

This is good. You should review your grammar though- especially changing tenses.

The book is occasionally monotonous or redundant: try varying the writing, add some description, action, etc.

Other than that, it's good!

HAHA! If this continues like this, I may have just read Chapter 1 of my favorite book on this site.

Blip- it does sound history bookish, but keep in mind it's an intro, a prolouge.

I'm off to favorite, and keep reading (hopefully).

This seems exciting. It's quite a good intro though it sounds a little history book ish. You introduce quite a few unusual names and that may confuse the reader a little. Other thanthat well done. I'm going to add this to my favz to read on later:).

Could you check oit a littlof ONCE if you have time and you don't have to read all.
